South College hosts three annual balls (our Winter and Summer Balls are external events, while our Epiphany Term Ball is internal). These events help us celebrate our community, mark key points in our academic year and even fundraise for local charities.

March 2026 saw South College host its first-ever Charity Ball, bringing together students for an evening of celebration, fundraising and community. With a classic black and white theme, the evening was a chance to dress up, enjoy the festivities and come together for an important cause.

The ball was held in aid of Friends of the Oaks School, The Allotment Project and Durham Association for Boys and Girls Club, raising an incredible £2,217 through donations. Thanks to GiveMatch, this was doubled to an amazing £4,434 for charity.

The Black and White Charity Ball was a memorable addition to the South College calendar and a brilliant example of the college community coming together to support others.
